OFFICE AND FACILITIES MANAGER Fairfax Community Church
Job Description

Fairfax Community Church, a small, progressive congregation with a big community outreach seeks a friendly, skilled, flexible person to manage our office and oversee church rentals.

Schedule: Part-time. Office operations and rentals management 60 hours/month, Pay $28/hour Somewhat flexible schedule; preference is 3 - 4 days/week, 3 - 5 hours/day to equal 60 hours/month

Primary Responsibilities: Under the direction of the Church Council, the Office Manager is responsible for managing office operations and church rentals.

Specific Duties:

Communications:

  • ●  Format and print church bulletins under direction of the Pastor

  • ●  Prepare and distribute other church documents as directed

  • ●  Create and print fliers for church events and for publicity purposes

  • ●  Check phone and email messages, notify staff/church leaders, distribute any mail

  • ●  Maintain contact lists, adding new contacts from visit sign in sheets and other

    sources. Email new contacts to Pastor and newsletter editor.

  • ●  Maintain church documents (hard copies and digital copies) as directed

  • ●  Update church website as needed (may be done be volunteer)

  • ●  Create a social media presence for the church (Instagram/Facebook)

  • ●  Craft and publish social media marketing posts to augment FCC presence in the

    larger community (with guidance.) May include the following:

  • ●  establish contacts with local news organizations

  • ●  write occasional press releases

  • ●  promote community events

  • ●  create a blog covering who we are, what’s happening, vision etc.

    Other Office and Facilities Duties:

  • ●  Order office and building supplies

  • ●  Oversee yard work and janitorial services

  • ●  Check Supply Closet, order bathroom paper products etc.

  • ●  Contact appropriate staff/volunteer re: facility issues

  • ●  Call repair people if instructed to do so

Rental Duties

  • ●  Handle rental inquiries (short and long-term rentals)

  • ●  Show facilities to prospective renters when needed

  • ●  Coordinate rental use scheduling, set-up/cleaning, fee collection

  • ●  Assign & collect keys and/or lock box code to renters

  • ●  Establish and assign alarm codes for renters using Ring system

  • ●  Manage rental/building use calendar

  • ●  Respond to renters’ questions and concerns and to any failures to comply with

    contract requirements Basic Qualifications

  • ●  Working knowledge of and commitment to the values of Fairfax Community Church

  • ●  Excellent communication skills, verbal and written;

  • ●  Excellent human relations and interpersonal skills

  • ●  Exercise courtesy to fellow employees, church members and the general public

  • ●  Be a self-starter, well organized, able to perform multiple tasks and prioritize

    competing duties without continuous supervision

  • ●  Ability to maintain confidentiality

  • ●  Ability to work collaboratively

  • ●  Proficiency in computer technology including word-processing, Google Drive,

    proficiency with social media

  • ●  Professional bearing; clean and neat appearance

  • ●  Ability to pass a background check

    Education and Experience:

  • ●  Prior success as an office manager position

  • ●  Previous experience with non-profit setting & culture helpful but not required
